Cupping Problems in Asphalt Shingle Roofs

As your asphalt shingle roof approaches the end of its life span, you may notice you’re needing roof repair visits more frequently than usual. Normal wear and tear on shingles include curling, clawing, fish-mouthing and loss of granulation. When there has been too much granule loss in the shingle, its structure will begin to buckle under its own weight. This typically starts right at the center, creating a concave crater that resembles a shallow cup, hence its name, cupping.
